Meal Prep: Bread Stuffed
No need to order from fast food. You don’t need cooking classes or costly meal delivery services to prepare something delicious at home.
Recipe ingredients:
- 500 g all-purpose flour (about 17.6 oz)
- 10 g dry yeast (or 30 g fresh yeast) (0.35 oz / 1.05 oz)
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 250 ml warm milk (8.5 fl oz)
Filling:
- 300 g sliced ham (10.5 oz)
- 300 g sliced mozzarella cheese (10.5 oz)
To Finish:
- 1 egg yolk (for brushing)
- Oregano to taste
Instructions:
Start by mixing the yeast with the sugar and warm milk.
Add the egg, oil, and salt, stirring well. Gradually add the flour until a smooth dough forms that is slightly sticky but doesn’t stick to your hands.
Knead the dough for about 10 minutes, cover with a cloth, and let it rest for 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
After that, roll out the dough on a floured surface into a large rectangle.
Cut into smaller rectangular pieces, place a slice of ham and a slice of cheese in the center of each, and fold them like little parcels or envelopes.
Place the filled rolls on a greased baking tray or one lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with beaten egg yolk and sprinkle with oregano.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C (356 °F) for about 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden and the cheese is melted. Serve warm.
