This cake is a recipe I learned and which has now become my favorite. Try making it and surprise everyone. See below the list of all ingredients and required quantities. And then, a very complete preparation method with details of the recipe.
Recipe Ingredients:
- 3 eggs
- ¾ teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup cold water
- ⅔ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup sourdough starter
- ⅔ cup shortening
- 1 ⅔ cups white sugar
Instructions:
To begin, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Next, grease and flour a 9 x 13-inch cake pan.
Next, sift together the cocoa, flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
Then, in a large bowl, beat the butter, sugar and eggs together well. Now slowly add the flour mixture to the cream mixture, beating until smooth.
Then add the vanilla and water, mix well. Then pour the batter into the prepared tin.
Finally, bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, approximately 35 minutes.
