🧀 Ingredients for the Batter
- ½ cup (1.75 oz / 50 g) grated Parmesan cheese
- 3 cups (12.75 oz / 360 g) all-purpose flour/wheat flour
- 1 cup (7 oz / 200 g) heavy cream
- 1½ cups (12 fl oz / 360 ml) whole milk
- 4 eggs
- ¼ cup (2 fl oz / 60 ml) vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon (0.42 oz / 12 g) baking powder
- Salt to taste
🌭 Ingredients for the Filling
- 10 or more hot dogs, sliced into rounds
- 1 cup (7 oz / 200 g) tomato sauce
- 1 can (6 oz / 170 g) sweet corn, drained
- ½ cup (3.5 oz / 100 g) chopped green olives
- Salt and oregano to taste
Instructions:
Step 1 – Prepare the Batter:
In a blender, add all liquid ingredients: eggs, milk, oil, and cream. Blend for about 3 minutes.
Add the flour, blend until smooth and lump-free.
Add the baking powder, salt, and Parmesan cheese. Pulse a few seconds just to mix. Set aside.
Step 2 – Make the Filling:
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the sliced hot dogs, tomato sauce, corn, olives, oregano, and salt.
Cook for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat.
Step 3 – Assemble the Pie:
Preheat your oven to 340°F (170°C). Grease a large baking dish (around 9×13 inches / 23×33 cm).
Pour half of the batter into the pan. Spread the hot dog mixture evenly over the batter.
Pour the remaining batter on top, spreading gently. Sprinkle with a pinch of oregano.
Step 4 – Bake:
Bake for 35–45 minutes, or until the top is lightly golden and firm to the touch.
Remove from the oven, let it rest for 5–10 minutes, and serve warm.
