Recipe Ingredients:

  • 4 egg yolks, strained
  • 2 tablespoons margarine (about 1 oz / 28g)
  • 1 carton of table cream or heavy cream (7 oz / 200g)
  • 1 cup powdered milk (about 3.5 oz / 100g)
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract (0.5 fl oz / 15ml)
  • 2 cups whole milk (17 fl oz / 500ml)
  • 2 cans sweetened condensed milk (28 oz / 790g total)

For the Topping:

  • Chocolate sprinkles, to taste
  • 7 oz chopped semi-sweet chocolate (200g)
  • 1/2 carton of table cream or heavy cream (3.5 oz / 100g)

Instructions:

For the topping:
First, place the chopped chocolate in a bowl and melt it in the microwave, pausing every 30 seconds to stir and avoid burning. If you prefer, you can also melt it using a double boiler.
Then, add the heavy cream and stir well until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy. After that, let it cool and set it aside.

For the ice cream base:
First, in a saucepan, add the powdered milk and sweetened condensed milk. Then, stir thoroughly until fully dissolved.
Next, add the egg yolks, margarine, vanilla extract, heavy cream, and milk. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.
After that, cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until it starts to boil gently, thickens slightly, and becomes creamy.

Then, remove it from the heat and transfer the mixture to a ring-shaped pan (about 8.5 inches in diameter), previously greased with a small amount of oil.
Afterward, place it in the freezer for at least 12 hours or overnight. To make it easier to unmold, warm the bottom of the pan slightly over the stove for a few seconds.
Then, unmold it onto a glass serving dish. Lastly, pour the ganache topping over it and sprinkle with chocolate sprinkles.
To finish, serve and enjoy this delicious frozen treat.
