White Cream:
- 1 can (14 oz) of sweetened condensed milk
- 3 tablespoons of cornstarch
- 3 cups of whole milk (24 fl oz) – (700 ml)
- 3 egg yolks, strained
- 1 cup (8 fl oz) of heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract (optional)
Assembly:
- 14 oz (about 48 pieces) of ladyfinger cookies – (400 g)
- Milk for dipping the cookies
Ganache:
- 9 oz of semi-sweet chocolate (about 1 ½ cups chopped) – (250 g)
- 1 cup (8 fl oz) of heavy cream
Decoration:
- Chocolate shavings
- Cherries
- Powdered sugar
Instructions:
White Cream: First, in a saucepan, mix the sweetened condensed milk, cornstarch, and milk. Then, add the strained egg yolks. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens. Next, add the heavy cream and vanilla extract, cooking for an additional 3 minutes. Set aside.
Assembly: Start by spreading a layer of white cream in a glass dish. Then, dip the cookies in milk and layer them over the cream. Continue alternating layers of cream and cookies, and, finally, finish with a layer of white cream.
Ganache: Melt the semi-sweet chocolate with the heavy cream using a double boiler or microwave. Stir until smooth and creamy. After that, spread the ganache over the dessert.
Finishing Touches: Decorate with chocolate shavings, cherries, and powdered sugar. Afterward, refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
Special Tip: For an even more festive touch, you can add candied fruits or nuts between the layers of the dessert. The result will be even more delightful and perfect for your holiday dinner.
