Recipe ingredients:
- 2 slices of sandwich bread
- 2 slices of cooked ham (approx. 40g / 1.4 oz)
- 2 slices of mozzarella cheese (approx. 50g / 1.8 oz)
- Butter, for toasting the bread (about 1 tbsp / 14g / 0.5 oz)
Instructions:
Start by placing one slice of cheese on top of a slice of bread. Add the ham over the cheese, then place another slice of cheese on top. Close the sandwich with the second slice of bread.
Next, spread a thin layer of butter on the outer side of the top slice of bread. Heat a skillet over medium heat.
Place the sandwich in the skillet, buttered side down. While it’s cooking, spread butter on the now top side of the bread.
Use a spatula to gently press the sandwich down. Let it cook for about 3 minutes, or until the bottom is golden brown and crispy.
Flip the sandwich carefully, press again slightly, and cook until the other side is also golden and the cheese has melted.
Finally, remove the sandwich from the skillet, cut it in half, and serve with mayonnaise or your favorite dipping sauces.
