How to Make Soft Homemade Bread
With simple ingredients and easy prep, this corn bread turns out soft and is perfect for breakfast or a snack. You don’t need cooking classes or costly meal delivery services to prepare something delicious at home. With a bit of planning and our detailed meal prep guide, you can create amazing dishes with confidence and ease.
Recipe Ingredients:
- 2 eggs
- 3 tablespoons of sugar
- 1 cup of warm milk (240 ml)
- 1 tablespoon of dry active yeast
- 1 can of corn, drained (usually about 200 g of kernels)
- 1 cup of cornmeal (fubá) (about 120 g)
- 3 ⅓ cups of all-purpose flour (500 g)
- ½ cup of oil (120 ml)
Instructions:
First, in a blender, add the sugar, warm milk, and dry yeast. Blend briefly, just enough to activate the yeast.
Then, add the drained corn, oil, eggs, and cornmeal. Blend until the mixture becomes smooth and uniform.
Next, transfer the mixture to a large bowl. Gradually add the flour, mixing well after each addition.
After that, knead the dough by hand until it becomes smooth and slightly sticky.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap, a plastic bag, and a clean kitchen towel. Let the dough rest in a warm place until it doubles in size.
Once risen, gently press the dough with your hands to release any air.
Now, divide the dough into small portions. Roll out each one with a rolling pin, fold the ends together, and shape into little balls.
Place the dough balls on a buttered glass baking dish. Cover again and let rest for another hour.
Finally, brush each one with a bit of milk, sprinkle cornmeal on top, and bake in a preheated oven at 356 °F (180 °C) for about 30 minutes, or until golden brown.
